Today, there is a blizzard.

Today, there is a blizzard.

My whole life, storms have always excited me. I enjoy them. If it must be cold, I would much rather there be a lot of snow, it makes the cold more bearable (rain with cold is horrible, though.) I enjoy watching storms, rain or snow.
A good summer thunderstorm excites me a lot. I like to watch the trees whipping in the wind and the sky to look like daytime for just a moment when the lightning strikes. The blowing rain with a sparkling, wet glaze laid over everything. It seems kind of tropical to me for some reason.

A winter storm is a little different. It's cold and snowy and icy and I always dream of being snowed in with these. Not having to worry about responsibilities, jobs, the outside world. I've dreamed of having situations like in cartoons where you open the door and a pile of snow just falls in and covers you. I'm a pretty carefree guy, anyway, as anyone who knows me could tell you, but its nice having even less to worry about for a day or two. Stay home and watch some movies, find some new music, nap.

The blizzard that someone on Facebook declared "Snowpocalypse" has been okay, the crappy TV was crappier than normal, though, and no movies seemed to interest me enough, and for some reason Discovery HD Theater wasn't coming in at all. I still feel it would've been more enjoyable if my laptop wasn't being a pain-in-the-ass with the audio being problematic. I had problems with it about a month ago, but it stopped and decided to work fine until today when I wanted to catch up on some missed TV episodes via Hulu.

All in all, I give this snowed-in day a C+. I enjoyed watching the snow and wind and knowing that it was one of the biggest snows we've had in a long, long time. I also enjoyed the whole not worrying about outside life too much. I also started re-reading Downtown Owl by Chuck Klosterman specifically because it ends with a really bad blizzard that actually occurred in 1984. It wasn't as great as I would've liked it to be, but it passes because it was better than going to work or anything. And it would've gotten a better grade if not for my computer problems and the poor scheduling of basic cable for February 1, 2011.
